Greetings in the name of human rights!
The Indonesian Legal Aid and Human Rights Association (PBHI) focuses on the advancement of human rights through defending the victims of human rights violations, community empowerment, research and development, as well as human rights policy advocacy.
In 2022, PBHI works with oriented-based in 4 strategic issues, as mandated by 6th congress, namely: Initiating and Improving the Inclusive and Progressive Human Rights Policies; Strengthening the Protection of Human Rights Defenders and Woman Human Rights Defenders; Ensuring Ecological Justice through Environmental Preservation, Improving Equitable Natural Resource Governance, and settlement of ecocide crime; and Reforming civil liberties and supremacies.
Based on report and analysis by PBHI, the situation of human rights violations in 2022 has transformed, from incidental to target based and institutionalized systematically and structurally into policies and institutions (State Capture Repressions). This condition worsens the reality of the shrinking civic space over the last three years, while the access to justice remedy has become stagnant.
Responding to this situation, PBHI contributes by promoting human rights policies (Legal Aid Service Standards, Paralegal Policy and Commitment to Justice Action in the Open Government Indonesia National Action Plan); Human Rights Defender Protection Policy (Komnas HAM Regulation), which is strengthened by human rights research and development (Basic Assessment of Recovery of Victims of Human Trafficking/TPPO, Data on Torture Cases, Findings of Violations of Freedom of Expression in Papua, Strengthening the Right to Health in Covid-19 excess/Tobacco Control and Human Rights Guarantees for Tubercolusis, and others).
In Strategic Litigation level PBHI took steps to uphold human rights through civil lawsuit and judicial review (State Administration Lawsuit against the TNI Commander for Appointment of Past Human Rights Violators, Protection of Personal Data through State Administration Lawsuit against PeduliLindungi application, Civil Lawsuit for Victims of Acute Kidney Failure in Children, and others);
PBHI report is intended to be a trigger mechanism for the promotion of human rights as well as a basis for future advocacy.
Thank You!
